The iConverter 4Tx is a compact 4-Port Ethernet switch module and is a member of the managed iConverter product family. The 4Tx is a versatile plug-in switch module that can be deployed in a 19-Module, 5-Module, 2-Module and in a 1-Module Chassis.
The 4Tx supports Half or Full-duplex 10/100Mbps auto-negotiation, and features flexible hardware and software controls. Two ports can be controlled by DIP-switches and all the four ports can be controlled via SNMP management.
The 4Tx supports RJ-45 auto-crossover (MDI/MDI-X) on three of the four ports, eliminating the need for a crossover cable and facilitating connectivity to different types of Ethernet equipment. Port 1 features a manual crossover switch.
The 4Tx features Port VLAN control on the RJ-45 and Backplane Ports, which allows complete control of traffic flow between ports. The switch module also supports Port Access Control to enable/disable individual RJ-45 ports. MIB statistics are available for 32 variables per port, reporting a wide range of real-time packet statistics such as performance and operational status indicators.
The iConverter 4Tx can be used in managed or unmanaged applications. Management is accomplished by installing an iConverter Management Module (NMM2) or Network Interface Device (NID) in the same chassis. The management module provides access to all the advanced features available on the module.
The management software can override the physical DIP-switch settings such as auto-negotiation, Half or Full-Duplex and backplane selection, and remotely configure additional parameters including Port VLAN and Port Access Control. The port MIB statistics include transmit and receive packet counts and error counts.
The hot-swappable plug-in module can be mounted in a high-density 19 or 5-Module chassis with redundant AC and DC power supplies. It can also be mounted in a 2-Module AC or DC powered chassis, or in a 1-Module chassis with AC or DC power input.
The iConverter Multi-Service Platform consists of Network Interface Devices, T1/E1 multiplexers, CWDM/DWDM multiplexers and managed media converters that combine to deliver Carrier Ethernet and TDM services over fiber or CWDM/DWDM wavelengths. This flexible architecture supports a wide variety of configurations for scalable and reliable fiber connectivity in Service Provider and Enterprise networks.
