BICSI Fall Conference, Anaheim CA – September 17, 2012 – Omnitron Systems Technology, (www.omnitron-systems.com) a leading provider of fiber optic connectivity products, today launched the low-cost OmniConverter TM GPoE/SE Gigabit Ethernet media converter with Power over Ethernet (PoE). The compact OmniConverter GPoE/SE converts 1000BASE-X fiber to 10/100/1000 UTP and functions as Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) by injecting PoE through the RJ-45 port.
“The OmniConverter GPoE/SE overcomes the 100 meter distances limitation of copper UTP cabling and extends distances up to 140 kilometers to PoE surveillance cameras, IP phones and wireless access points with fiber,” said Rammy Bahalul, VP Marketing of Omnitron Systems. “The GPoE/SE costs up to 60% less than other converters, and delivers value with plug-and-play installation and hardened operating temperature range.”
The GPoE/SE is part of the OmniConverter family of mid-span media converters with models that support the 802.3af PoE standard (15.4 Watts) or the 802.3at PoE+ standard (25.5 Watts). The OmniConverter GPoE/SE features one or two 802.3af powered RJ-45 ports.
