OmniConverter PoE Switch Operating Temperature Range:
OmniConverter PoE switches are available in three operating temperature ranges.
- Commercial (0 to 50ºC)
- Wide (-40 to 60ºC)
- Extended (-40 to 75ºC)
Managed PoE Switches
OmniConverter managed Power over Ethernet (PoE) Switches feature VLAN, rate limiting, Class of Service, Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP), and Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP). Management is available via a Web GUI, Telnet, SSH, SNMP, or Serial Console interface.
Unmanaged PoE Switches
Unmanaged PoE (Power over Ethernet) switches are plug-and-play switches. After connecting them to the power supply and attaching the cables, they connect to devices with auto-negotiation of data rates and duplex modes.
PoE switch Application
Here are the three most functional PoE switch applications that can be accomplished with any managed or unmanaged compact PoE switch or RuggedNet (industrial) PoE switch.
Ring Topology Network Application:
This example demonstrates the ring capabilities of the OmniConverter PoE switches. In this application, each OmniConverter switch connects to its neighboring switches via its uplink ports, eventually closing the ring.
Using this network architecture combined with ring protection protocols such as Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP) or Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) facilitates a highly resilient network required in mission critical applications.
Daisy Chain Application:
This example demonstrates the daisy chain capabilities of the OmniConverter PoE switches. In this application, each OmniConverter switch connects to its neighboring switch via its uplink ports. The daisy chain can continue to additional switches using this method of connectivity.
Each OmniConverter switch provides connectivity to high speed fiber links, and power to IP cameras and Wi-Fi access points at each location along the daisy chain.
Dual Device Mode Application
This Dual Device feature is extremely useful when two isolated networks domains share a single network distribution location. The example below depicts a scenario where a surveillance security (green) network and a Wi-Fi (purple) network are sharing a single hub distribution location. Using the two uplinks and the Dual Switch mode facilitates using a single PoE switch driving both the Cameras and the Wi-Fi Access Points, while maintaining isolation between the networks. This helps to save space and inventory/management of multiple PoE switches.
PoE Power Multi-Day Scheduler
The web management allows you to automatically power on/off connected PD devices at pre-defined times of the day, which conserves energy and increases network security. For example, network managers can schedule to turn off power to their VoIP phones or WiFi Devices after business hours preventing unauthorized access and conserving energy, while having continuous PoE power to their Security Surveillance cameras 24 hours a day.
